Executive Financial Analysis Portal

Challenge: BTG needed to integrate financial reporting from 19 international legal entities, currently reporting numbers in up to 26 currencies. Each legal entity operates on a different accounting system with no current means of integration. To reach the solution-users (CFO’s and other executive management), the financial solution must be globally available, but remain secure.

Intellinet Solution: BTG selected Intellinet’s robust, industry leading Intelligent Enterprise (i.e.) integration solution. Intellinet automated, standardized and secured BTG’s current financial data submission processes. This enabled the compilation of budgets, forecasts and actual performance from each legal entity in a common format for storage in SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. Intellinet also created a database architecture to support dynamic currency conversions, which permitted the comparison of each legal entity’s finances regardless of the reported currency. The financial data was stored in an OLAP data cube and delivered to users in a digital dashboard portal environment. Custom web parts were built using the ProClarity Analytics Platform. The portal also included company content and reports built in Crystal Reports and Microsoft Excel formats. For security, the solution used Secure Socket Layer (SSL) public key encryption and additional business level security that was applied at the portal and cube levels.

Accomplished: Intellinet’s i.e. solution accelerated BTG’s company-wide budget planning effort and provided value in business decisions. Without undergoing a costly ERP implementation or a prolonged enterprise data integration effort, Intellinet provided BTG with analytical reporting of integrated financial data through a secure portal on the internet. In addition, the i.e. selection improved the reliability, performance and flexibility of BTG’s enterprise-wide database environment.
