Beers Construction Company is a full-service general contracting firm that has provided general construction and construction management services for the past 95 years.

Windows Migration Challenge: After reviewing the company’s organizational initiatives, Beers’ IT leadership suspected that the innovative use of information technology (IT) would better enable the organization to manage their desktops and lower the cost of their helpdesk and PC support operations. Additionally, Beers maintains disparate offices networked with servers and workstations that often require engineers to travel to these offices and solve system problems. Intellinet Solution: To optimize its existing network infrastructure, Beers selected Intellinet’s robust Intelligent Enterprise (i.e.) integration solution. The solution enabled seamless and secure integration of Beers’ mission critical enterprise-scale technologies with innovative software applications, and delivered a more streamlined and reliable network infrastructure, allowing Beers to effectively manage their network users and resources. Through i.e., the combination of Windows 2000 Active Directory Group Policy features, IntelliMirror technology, Plug & Play capabilities, and improved reliability and management features have provided substantial cost savings to Beers. Through Microsoft Windows 2000 Rapid Deployment Program (RDP), Intellinet helped Beers meet their goals of leveraging the technology as soon as it became available. Intellinet designed, planned and migrated the entire Beers server and workstation infrastructure to the Windows 2000 platform. The project was comprised of 14 locations, 95 servers, and over 2000 workstations. Accomplished: The i.e. solution solved many of the helpdesk related issues that Beers had been experiencing. On the server side, Beers increased uptime and reliability, while reducing administrative costs. Beers has also streamlined the administration process through the use of Internet Authentication Service/RADIUS (IAS) and Terminal Services Remote Administration to substantially reduce the need to send support personnel to remote offices.

John Wieland Homes is a prominent Southeastern homebuilder, with offices in five Southern cities spanning four states. Involved in everything from land development, to realty and financial services, to fixture installation, John Wieland Homes is a truly integrated company specializing in helping a perspective homeowner through all phases of ownership.

Extranet Application Challenge: John Wieland Homes was faced with the challenging task of accommodating the ever-changing needs of homebuyers. John Wieland went in search of a web-based application that would provide a centrally located, and paperless database to capture all of the changes decided upon by homeowners. Intellinet Solution: After evaluating several web-based solutions, John Wieland selected Intellinet’s Intelligent Enterprise (i.e.) integration solution. Through the i.e. solution, Intellinet developed a web-based application that would streamline and automate the inefficient paper-based system, therefore decreasing the risk for errors, and reducing the amount of time taken to fill out multiple forms. The design selection application is a set of forms automated by a series of web pages with several functions including allowing designers to upload sample photos of the lot to the web server. Accomplished: The i.e. solution increased the accuracy of logging changes by tracking them in a Microsoft SQL database which updates all fields in real-time. By automating the design forms from a paper-based system to a web-based system, Intellinet was able to replace the labor-intensive, paper-driven process. As a result of adding functionality that enabled questions to be added to the forms, maintenance of the changes has been greatly improved.
